EltaMD UV AOX Elements Broad-Spectrum SPF 50 is an antioxidant-rich tinted mineral sunscreen designed for skin rather than only for sun. Its 100% mineral actives reflect and scatter UVA and UVB rays outdoors, and the formula also blocks 56% of high energy visible light, the blue light emitted by screens and indoor lighting.

That indoor component matters more than it once did. High energy visible light contributes to pigment formation, particularly in melasma and in deeper skin tones, and ordinary UV filters do very little against it.

Antioxidants help combat and restore the visible signs of photoaging, hyaluronic acid hydrates, and bisabolol with ginger root helps calm the skin and visibly reduce redness. The tint evens a range of skin tones and blurs the look of uneven texture.

1. Apply as the final step of your morning routine, after moisturizer.
2. Use approximately a quarter teaspoon for the face, more if including the neck.
3. Blend evenly and allow it to set before applying makeup.
4. Reapply every two hours of sun exposure, and after swimming or sweating.

Worth applying even on days you stay indoors if you spend them in front of a screen, since the formula is designed to address blue light as well as UV.

Blue light protection was dismissed as marketing for several years, and the evidence has since caught up: high energy visible light does contribute to pigment formation, and the effect is more pronounced in melasma and in richer skin tones. If pigment is your primary concern, a tinted mineral sunscreen is meaningfully better than a clear one.
