Elta MD - UV Sheer SPF 50+

EltaMD UV Sheer Broad-Spectrum SPF 50+ is a lightweight, hydrating facial sunscreen with a silky finish that absorbs quickly and does not leave the face shiny. It offers up to 80 minutes of sweat and water resistance, the highest rating available under current labeling rules.

That water resistance is what sets it apart from the rest of the EltaMD daily range. If you run, cycle, play tennis, swim, or simply live somewhere hot and humid, a sunscreen that survives sweat is the one that actually protects you.

It also helps even out skin tone and soothe heated skin, and it suits combination, dry, and oily skin types.

1. Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure.
2. Use approximately a quarter teaspoon for the face, and do not forget the ears, hairline, and the back of the neck.
3. Reapply at least every two hours, and immediately after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, or after towel drying.
4. Pair with a hat and shade during peak hours.

Water resistant does not mean waterproof. The 80-minute rating is the tested limit, not an all-day guarantee.

This is the sunscreen our providers recommend for patients with an active outdoor life, and for travel to hot climates. A daily facial sunscreen that performs beautifully at a desk will slide off your face on a tennis court, and a sunscreen that has slid off is not protecting anything.

The practical rule is to match the sunscreen to the day rather than owning only one. UV Clear or UV Daily for ordinary days, UV Sheer for anything involving heat, water, or exertion.
