Strataderm 10g

Strataderm is a fast-drying, transparent silicone gel for the management of existing scars. Once dry, it forms a flexible, breathable, water-resistant protective layer over the scar.

Silicone gel is the most evidenced non-invasive approach to scar management, and it has been the standard of care for decades. It works by hydrating the scar tissue and normalizing collagen production, which helps flatten raised scars and reduce redness, itching, and discomfort.

It is suitable for raised, red, itchy, or uncomfortable scars, including hypertrophic scars and keloids, and it can be used on scars from surgery, injury, and burns. Because it is transparent and self-drying, it works on visible areas including the face, and it can be worn under makeup and sunscreen.

1. Ensure the skin is clean, dry, and the wound is fully closed. Do not apply to open wounds.
2. Apply a very thin layer over the scar. Thin is important; a thick layer will not dry properly.
3. Allow it to dry for 5 to 6 minutes. Once dry, it is invisible and can be covered with makeup or sunscreen.
4. Apply once daily, or twice daily on areas of high movement.
5. Continue for a minimum of 60 to 90 days. Older scars may need longer.

Use sunscreen over the treated scar. Sun exposure on healing scar tissue causes lasting discoloration.

Silicone gel is the best-supported non-invasive scar treatment available, and it is what our surgeons recommend after facial plastic surgery. Two factors determine whether it works: starting at the right time and continuing long enough.

Start only once the wound is fully closed, with no scabs and no open areas. Applying too early risks the healing wound. Once you start, continue for a minimum of 60 to 90 days. Scar remodeling continues for a year or more, and stopping at four weeks because the scar looks acceptable is the most common reason patients end up disappointed.
